Located across the street from Captain Parker's Pub and its all-world chowder, Lobster Boat is an above-average seafood place with a strong chowder offering of its own. Our Plan B after Captain Parker's had a long wait, we were able to get seated after about 20 minutes. The restaurant is very big - while I could fault the sacrificing of charm over commerce, our growling stomachs were just happy to get a table. Our group all started off with the clam chowder which has won some local awards that I think Captain Parker's didn't compete in. The chowder was served in plastic bowls which felt a bit tacky. But the chowder itself was very good. Could've been a bit chunkier but blew away our lunchtime chowder (Baxter's Boathouse) and finished respectably to the next day's chowder at Captain Parker's. An order of Ipswich Clam 'steamers' was enjoyed by our two steamer fans. It was my first time trying them and felt they were okay but not as satisfying as, say, steamed mussels. Went with the Lobster Roll dinner which, at around $16, was definitely a bit cheaper than found in my native NYC. The lobster roll didn't disappoint. Nice big chunks of lobster served in a buttered hot dog roll with the right amount (almost none) of mayo. Definitely recommend it even if it wasn't quite as memorable as my personal fave Pearl Oyster Bar in NYC ( yelp.com/biz/6dSiCqC9x51… ) The frozen daiquris were better than expected - especially the Banana. Service wasn't very good. We had to ask for water numerous times. Drinks took longer than expected. Seems like they were understaffed. Worth checking out for the chowder and lobster roll!

Had dinner the other night. Food is mediocre service the same. Had the lobster that's all it was lobster, sides tasteless. My wife had the lobster salad nothing to write home about. Only redeeming quality is the waterfront seating on the patio.

Overpriced, tasteless food, along with really poor customer service. Go elsewhere for lobster and seafood.

Another cape tourist trap. They like to pack you into the place. The one problem I had with The Lobster Boat, was how overcooked my food was. Sorry I will not be back again.

Excellent lobsters with a good price. Need to say more?

We walked in late and grabbed dinner. Lobsters for everyone. Good prices and good service. I got the seafood platter with lobster, scallops, shrimp and fish

Overpriced IMHO , decent but not great. I got a sampler of all sorts of fried goodness. Shrimp, scallops ,clams, fish... It would have been better, but it was rushed and everything on the plate was soggy. Not what I expect when paying $23 for the plate. My wife ws happy with "the lazy man's lobster". We picked up a cheeseburger for my 2yr old. Dropped$95.00 on an average meal. Very average... Sam Adams summer was almost flat too...

Went on Saturday, June 7th, 2008 at 5:30 PM. The restaurant was not busy when we arrived. Service: The initial set-up was terrible. We sat for 10 minutes watching a half-dozen waitstaff sit around and BS with each other. We had to ask for bread, and for utensils, and for napkins, and then for a full set of utensils wrapped in a clean napkin. I didn't even realize that we didn't have napkins until after I started eating my chowder. But while the initial service (pre-waiter) was bad, our waiter (Terry) was excellent. The fact that we weren't set up properly wasn't his fault, but he made amends quickly. Food: My wife had the chicken parm. She asked for the tomato sauce to be served on the side, and the sauce was served to her ice-cold from the fridge. She also said the pasta tasted "burnt". I had the New England Clambake. The mussels were lukewarm, but other than that everything was very good. (The chowder seemed to be thickened with cornstarch. It was more gelatinous than creamy.) Atmosphere: The restaurant is huge, and it looks like it's designed to serve in quantity rather than quality. It's also decorated like every other stereotypical seafood restaurant in New England, with the buoys and the fishing nets and the ships' wheels. (But I wouldn't have it any other way!) There was also a loud argument between a couple of the employees that spilled out into the dining room, but that was taken care of almost as soon as it had started. To be fair, we went early in the season and the summer waitstaff may not have jelled yet. Also, it's in a touristy area and the building itself is shaped like a giant boat, so I didn't have high expectations. I just wanted lobster, and was pleased with the lobster I received. Price: $55 for two beers, the chicken parm, and the NE clambake ($30). I thought it was reasonable.

If I could give it a - zero I would! Awful!!! We got seated right away which I was surprised for a Saturday night prime dinner time in the middle of the summer. It took 15 to 20 min for our waiter to come by and ask us what we would like to drink, first drinks came ok. We ordered shrimp cocktail 6 for the tune of 12.95 along with muscles that were legit the size of my small finger nail with many of the shells with nothing in them! That was 11.95 the first shrimp had a hair wrapped around one of them, when we mentioned to waiter he said " know one has hair back there" really?!!! So okay let that go.. the second one came SAME THING!!! Hair again!!!!! third one was delivered by ? Manager? She had no apologies just dropped it and walked away.. now for the "main course" my friend ordered the NY steak, it legit looked like a flat piece of flank steak that was well done, I got the baked haddock which was all dark meat an extremely small portion for the price of 16.95 it was disgusting and my baked potato was not even cooked. My husband ordered the fried haddock it was extremely small and covered with french fries and onion rings that was horrible. I express my discuss with the manager who could have cared less not an apology nothing we got the bill $168.00 later they never took the shrimp off they never took my meal off worst experience ever I will never go back to this place again it's basically a huge tourist trap I warn all of you who are traveling to Cape Cod not to go to this place it's horrible poor service poor management terrible terrible place if you wanted decent meal and good clam chowder go to captain Parker's which is right across the street. They also screwed up our second drink order brought us the wrong drinks and the waiters excuse was the bar was short staffed sorry but that's not something you tell a customer obviously this kid was overworked and overwhelmed we still left him a decent tip I left hungry and never even had a dinner so opted to stop at McDonalds had a much better meal

The decor is attractive to tourist like us but the food is just ok. My husband had the lobster mac n cheese, it was tastey, but nothing to rave about. My lobster roll was just ok, I had better.

Came here during August peak season. Wait time was less and thank goodness because one bartender called out and the two guys left did best they could. I think 4 would be sporty anyhow.but after we sat everything from then was great, fast good food!

Big place, sat with no wait. Food on table in 20 mins. Great quo hog. Server was great. Out side area is limited to 10 tables while there are 70 inside. Kids like their fish and chips, definitely skip the scollops they had zero flavor.

Went to this place for twin lobsters. It's very nice decor inside plus sitting by the water is nice. Our server was nice and personable. It took a little while to get our check once we had finished but no big deal. Chowder was very good and small side salad was a good app as well. Twin lobsters were $30 and came with corn on the cob and your choice of starch. Lobsters were good and sides were good as well. Only complaint is that I don't think the butter that came with the lobster was real butter. All and all nice dinner I would dine here again.

Chicken fingers for my daughter 9/10. I got the fisherman platter so she could try some of everything. Scallops - 10/10 - perfect. Fried shrimp 7/10 - batter wouldn't stick. Clam strips 9/10. Haddock was good. We had the mango coconut shrimp as an app. I wish the magi was just on the side and not drenched in it. Sat on the deck was very nice.

So year after year of trying different things at the Lobster Boat I have determined that the only good thing here that makes it different than the rest is the chowder. Not that everything else is bad it's just not anything to write home about. If you want plainly fried food then this is your place to be. I don't mind stopping and grabbing a chowder to go but that's all. The service is always great, they're always friendly and prompt no complaints there. Oh ya, they don't offer clam cakes, but I've found that to be reoccurring downfall in the area.

Don't waste your time, not good! Not the drinks or the food nor the price! Much better places serve better food for less... Don't waste ur time, money or taste buds!

Do NOT go here with large groups. And if you do, you might want to split into more manageable tables. I'm not sure if they were short on people (it didn't really look like it) but one poor woman singlehandedly waited on my group of 23. Fortunately, she did a phenomenal job, was an extremely good sport, and was enthusiastic and cheerful. Don't get me wrong, the food was reallllyyyy good. However, it took 1 hour until my group got to order. I guess it was our fault for being such a large group and thus caused complications, but I expected a little more because it's a fairly large restaurant with a lot of space and servers. The food was a tad expensive for my liking, but again, it was very good. And plus lobster is $$$. The clam chowder is truly amazing, but the lobster was a let down. It was quite mediocre in my opinion and I was expecting better because the restaurant is called the "lobster boat". But free, unlimited fresh bread and butter always makes me smile, so I give it a solid 4 stars.

I went here yesterday and let me just say that I am not a seafood person AT ALL. My dad was begging me to try the coconut mango shrimp appetizer so I eventually did. It was so good! I ordered chicken tenders with fries from the kids menu and they were good. Chicken was nice and fries were crispy. I ended up trying some clam strips from my dad's food and they tasted nice too! I was very surprised to like the seafood I tried. I went here last year and I have to say it's always worth coming here! Sitting in the outside dining area was a great choice; what a beautiful view. If you like seafood definitely come here!!!

The service was decent. The runners ,I'm guessing, dropped off our food and noticed the dirty plates we had from appetizers and left them. We had to put them on the empty table next to us. Our server Latoya was good, she was friendly. Now to the food: The food was decent. The salmon was good, the surf and turf was good. Was surprised Latoya didn't offer if we wanted a male or female lobster or if we wanted it steamed or baked. Came out steamed. The spaghetti and meatball was good as well, the fish and chips wasn't that great(I was surprised) the trio platter was good too. On the menu it said, they charge 18% on parties of 8 or more. We were a party of 6. And was charged the 18% Sucks for her cause we usually leave 20% or more tip but better for us haha. Decor 10/10 Food 7/10 Service 7/10 Overall 7.5/10 Would I come back? I would but I would first visit other seafood restaurants. I'm from NYC so till next time.

We've been coming to the Lobster Boat for years on our trips to the Cape. It's more of a family geared restaurant so when it was just my girlfriend and I we found it better to sit outside where it was quieter. The food was good and fairly reasonably for lobster comparing it to other places on 28. You get to eat in a boat and they actually make a suprisingly good in-house beer.

My family and I are on vacation and just had the worst Dining experience I've ever had. My husbands fish and chips took 25 minutes to arrive at our table after the rest of the food arrived. When I approached the manager, I was told that there was a computer glitch. Nothing was taken off the bill and she was so condescending I felt embarrassed that I had to approach her. Don't waste your well earned money on this place.

Went on a Friday night with family when Captain Parkers was packed, and we got seated immediately. That should've been the tip off. I'm vegan and most places will veganize a dish or two, but even my request for a baked potato with steamed broccoli or spinach (two veggies that are served in other dishes) met with a nasty (no, I mean, a really nasty) "no, we can't do substitutions" from the waitress. So salad and fries. Coming in I laughed at a little girl struggling with a giant wedge of lettuce in her non-wedge salad. Then I got the same, and it was gritty. Mom liked the clam chowder, brother-in-law felt his chicken dish was pretty average, and my brother enjoyed his fried clams until they came back to haunt him early the next morning. Looks like everyone comes here for twin lobsters and chowder. If you want additional menu options and a pleasant dining experience at a good restaurant, avoid this place like the tourist trap plague it is.

This place is a zero. Real ripoff. Lots of "market prices" on menu got the whole belly clams for the market price of $22.95. I got 8 rubbery clams, 4 small onion rings and some fries! My girl got the lazy man lobster and we got coconut shrimp app. Spent $89 for dairy queen quality food. We left hungry. Stay away! Many better places here.

Nice outdoor seating with a view of the water and nearby marina. Clam chowder was excellent and fried calamari was one of the best I've had - very lightly breaded and not greasy.

    (4)
  • Susan R.

Clam Chowder was very good, but the oyster crackes were stale. The ahi was very fresh, but had more cartilage than I like. The coconut shrimp were very good with an excellent light Mango drip/sauce. Location was superb with great view of the harbor.

  • Julie F.

Horrible food and experience! Don't stop at this tourist trap! Whole belly clams were rubbery and over cooked. Baked potatoes wee hard and left over from the day before. $9 soup was gross and straight out of a can! The waitress never came back to ask how things were and was shocked when we complained once we finally got the check. We Left hungry and 2 people in our party that both had the same meal ended up with major upset tummy's! Keep driving on by! If I could give this zero stars I would!

Do not go to this tourist trap "food factory". Wednesday night visit, wait to sit outside was 45 -50 minutes. Told to wait in the lounge and "have a drink". Only 2 bartenders present, one dedicated to the filling the orders for the wait staff. The other seemed to be a waiter/bartender/computer repairman. It took 9 minutes before the bartender acknowledged our presence, then another 16 until I had had enough and flagged him down for a drink. I got the typical" we are really busy" but it is absolutely insane to schedule 2 bartenders in a bar that needs at least 4. We decided that if the bar service was this poor, what was the food like? It was at this point we decided enough is enough and left. Spoke to a manager ?? Amanda ?? on the way out and expressed my irritation/disappointment/disgust by how we were treated. There are many other restaurants that actually care about you as a customer in the area. Sloppy service, poor attitude. I promise that I will never be back, and I will advise all my weekly renters accordingly.

Deceivingly small from the outside due to expansive parking lot. The inside surprisingly is deep and spacious. The server was attentive and kind. The food was pretty average. Lobster roll was medium portioned, and a bit overcooked. Too much roll to lobster ratio. Fries a bit soggy, cole slaw not memorable. Fisherman's platter well portioned. Scallops could have been more fresh. Shrimp and fish could have been less heavy and better cooked. These overlay soggy fries and bland onion rings. Kids meals somewhat expensive; $8 for $4-5 worth of food, but the accompanying frisbee was a smart gimmick.

We decided to have steamed lobster the last night of our trip and we picked this place because we passed it so many times and it looked pretty solid. We were seated right away and the waitress took our drink order. The problems started as soon as we saw our dinner. My mom got the twin lobster dinner and I got the surf and turf with a one pound lobster and prime rib. As soon as they put her lobsters down, I noticed something was odd. They were almost black. And it looked like charcoal was rubbed all over them. Mine looked perfect. She couldn't even crack hers open they were so overdone and her baked potato was hard as a rock. My lobster was perfect but my prime rib (which was supposed to be medium rare) came out medium well and was tough as a shoe. I didn't want to complain so my mom went to the "bathroom" and spoke to the manager who explained that they batch cook all of their lobsters ahead of time (so they obviously have to reheat them somehow) and said that my mothers lobster was "molting". I had the same size lobster (mine wasn't part of the twin special so it was cooked to order) and hers was awful. The fact that they let her meal go out like that and the fact that the manager (or any restaurant manager in the Cape) can never accept that their food, just isn't good quality food, astonishes me. If you wouldn't eat it or aren't proud of it, then don't send it out to a table.

Another great meal at the Lobster Boat. We've been coming here for years and never had a bad meal, unlike some other restaurants on the Cape. I had the baked stuffed shrimp which was packed with stuffing filled with seafood and huge scallop pieces. The flavor was amazing. My wife had a perfectly cooked and tender lobster. The service is great. Nothing to complain about here.

A lovely restaurant right next to the water! I came here with my family on our trip to cape cod. The food was delicious and the prices were great. Their pasta dishes are HUGE portions, I would definitely recommend splitting a pasta dish with someone. We got the Shrimp Scampi and Linguine with Clam Sauce. Both were good but the Shrimp Scampi was better. The lobster was fresh and delicious as well. My parents also ordered the Clam Casino appetizer and they loved it.they have their own parking lot with lots of parking!

We were warned by many people to steer clear of this place but we wanted to give it a shot. Good kids meals, good potato skins... that's where it ended. Three steaks sent back two well done after ordering medium rare and one sent back because it was purple and cold so raw. Told not to order steak and asked to order something else. had to order lobster because we are gluten free. Had to wait 45 minutes after the kids were done with their meals. Ugh. No manager came to applogize. I had to approach her. Not good customer service. Lesson learned. We will never go back. Also.... I believe the rice they serve is boxed rice a roni.

Great food, we went there a day or two after they just opened up and all the seafood they caught was fresh and ready to go. The atmosphere captured the essence of cape cod greatly.

I had wanted to come here and after reading the large amount of negative reviews had me almost not come here. So I looked at other restaurants and the selection this restaurant offered really made me want to visit. And I'm super glad I did. Jeremy our server was fantastic. He stopped by numerous times making sure we were enjoying ourselves. I started with the lobster bisque. It was very tasty and would have it again. My family had the clam chowder and it too was rather quite yummy. I had the lazy man lobster since I'm really into the lobster casseroles and also very lazy. It was fantastic. Another member of my party had the fried lobster. While it too was very enjoyable, the lazy man lobster was definitely better. Someone else in my group had the scallops and they too enjoyed it very much. Lastly, the onion rings were lightly breaded and very good. All in all it was a very good restaurant and glad a few people that didn't have good time didn't spoil my visit. I will definitely come back next time I visit the cape.

I am not sure where to begin....service was extremely slow....surprising since they seemed to have a lot of staff. The service we did get was surly....not what you expect for $100 when you are vacationing with the family. *would have been more if we could have actually gotten a second drink* In addition, we got the wrong app, and onion rings needed salt. By the way, don't ask to get them with your lobster roll... Surly waitress quickly shut that down. We had the buttered lobster rolls....worst lobster I have ever had. My daughter's pasta was hard and gummy (how do you mess up kid pasta, really?) Bottom line, not worth it....go somewhere else....anywhere else....terrible all around

The service was good and the view was nice, but they over-cooked my husband's swordfish, my stuffed quahog was bland, and the lobster salad in my BLT was abundant but also bland. If I'd had my eyes closed, I would never have known there was lobster in it. I don't get it. I've been coming to the Cape for years and have always wanted to try this place...it's always super busy...but I wouldn't come here again. FYI, it wasn't busy at all today.

While visiting Yarmouth my wife and I dined here. The seafood was amazing! The fried calamari is in the top 5 I have ever had. The Crab Bisque was excellent. My wife had it and she doesn't like lobster but fell in love with it. I had the seafood platter while my wife had the Scallops. Both wee awesome! Loved the homemade O-rings! This is an excellent place to go. Being seated right on the water made the experience even more memorable! Way to go great job! From servers to chefs! You made our night!

Beautiful dinner while the sunset! Perfect for the price. I had the stuffed shrimp (they were huge). Fries were ok. My boyfriend had the twin lobster special and was very pleased. His lobster bisque was to die for. A must see if you're in the area. Our waitress knew the menu well, made suggestions and was lovely to talk to.

Most people come here for the twin lobster special for $25 as do I. Not the best restaurant on the cape but a standard visit every vacation year. Chowder is decent. Large dining area with quick turnover ensures shorter than normal cape waits. Small outdoor seating area makes it tough to get seats to enjoy the marsh next to the restaurant. Half the restaurants exterior is shaped like a large lobster boat making the clientele touristy and family oriented.

We stopped there for lunch and both had the"famous' lobster roll. Although eating out on the deck was nice , we were disappointed with the roll, we come from an area with tasty lobster rolls and this roll had absolutely no flavor at all. The roll itself was nice and toasted but that was the only good thing . It is a touristy and old feeling restaurant however I hoped the lobster roll would be great but it was not worth the money.

Best of The 4 clam chowders we've had this week! (When in Rome...) food was amazing, service isn't so great. It's cool, I was there for the food!

Lobster bisque was good. Entrees that my table ordered were mussels and linguini, and fish of the day. Both entrees are bland. The lobster roll was good. Would not go here again unless I have no where else to go and just want lobster dishes.

Not going back. Nothing on menu was gluten free and waitress was not helpful. Manager was clueless and not helpful nor accommodating although she says things are made to order. Waitress said things are pre made. Way overpriced for scallops. No rice available.

The "best chowder on the cape" was good but nothing too exciting. The market price pound and a quarter lobsters were more expensive than the other places in the area. The $24 lobster Mac and cheese was quite disappointing. It was a very small portion the lobster was incredibly chewy and there wasn't much cheese to be found. The baked scallops were also quite skimpy. All entrees came with a sad side of undercooked vegetables. My family of four spent $160 to leave hungry.

    (2)
  • Melanie R.

Very overpriced for mediocre food. Husband got the "Cajun lobster", recommended by the server. The lobster meat was good, but the pasta was a poor attempt at fettuccine Alfredo with a sprinkling of Cajun spices, which were barely even detectable. My side salad was $8, definitely a bit overpriced for nothing special. Our oysters Rockefeller app was terrible- sandy and tiny oysters. The best thing there was the clam chowder.

One of the better restaurants we visited while we were in Cape Cod. This was the last restaurant we went to before finishing up out vacation. We entered and was greeted by a friendly hostess, she sited us by the window which was nice. The place itself it a pretty big restaurant. Our server came up and asked for a drink order. She mention that they have some beer especially made for the restaurant by Sam Adams. Being a beer drinker, I wanted to try it before I order a pint. I asked and the waitress had to go ask, she came back with the sample and I ended up ordering a pint. My wife order a pinta colada, which she enjoyed very much. We both ordered a cup of their "awarding winning chowder" . It was good, captain Parker's was better though. For dinner I order a seafood place which consist of a whole lobster, scallops, shrimp and a baked potato. My wife order their shrimp scampi. The food was Delicious and fresh. We both thoroughly enjoy both of our meals. Our waitress came to our table and said to us when we leave go walk by a table that was eating a 15 lbs LOBSTER! I had to see that. On our way out we stopped and actually talked to the people that were eating it and asked if I could take a picture.(see pic) Definitely something worth seeing. I would come back here for sure if in the area again.

Very good food first and formost, but the staff left a lot to be desired. My friend wanted a diffent sauce on a pasta meal and was told that no, he could not even if we payed more. The server found another way around it but the manager wouldnt let that slide. This is crazy to me its just sauce. That wouldnt be so bad if the server hadn't try and explain a beer i ordered to me like i didnt understand it. All in all the staff ruind it. If something happens where the food can stay the same but less rude staff could work there i would go again but i wont be insulted while i eat, especially at these prices.

There are so many places in the area that do all things better. The view is ok. The food was just not tasty. The waitress a little distracted. All condiments in little plastic individual servings. Peel peel peel. The room noisy even at half full. Decor not memorable. Needs pizzaz.

One of the few restaurants that were still opened by the time we arrived. I don't know if it was because they were about to close soon or whatnot but the food was horrible. The lobster roll was so gross and the bun was hard. Clam chowder was way too salty and the crab cake tasted like nothing special. Such a disappointment when I was hoping for some good seafood after a long 4-5 hour drive here.

I was looking for a place near Hyannis to get good and relatively inexpensive boiled lobster. I asked our resort front desk staff and they recommended the Lobster Boat. The restaurant is rather kitschy and touristy, but it was what I was expecting. They had a large lounge area to wait in - we waited 15 minutes or so. Service was EXCELLENT and fast - without felling like we were being rushed out. Wonderful clam chowder - most clams I have had in a chowder since we arrived last week and the bowl portion was big. Twin lobsters for $24.95 - about $10 -$15 dollars cheaper than in Hyannis. Lobster was exactly what I expected - excellent! Waitress was super friendly and responsive. If you are looking good seafood at a good price - I would recommend this. We will be going back before we leave the Cape.

I read some of the negative reviews of this place and was skeptical about going in, but my experience was great! I sat at the bar and had the twin lobster special and a Bloody Mary and the NE clam chowder. The bartender, Bill, was really nice and personable and the price was very reasonable ... No complaints here.

Our four-star rating isn't so much a measure of "four star" dining as it says that the Lobster Boat thoroughly and completely lives to our expectations of it. We went to the Lobster Boat looking for a "Capey" dining experience - complete with all the kitsch nautical decor and that's what we got. A good to nice meal, prepared as we wanted delivered quickly in a spacious dining room with lots of parking. All in all, a great place for a relatively simple dining experience. We were only 2, but it also seems a fantastic place to go with a crowd. The thing that stands out the most is the staff. The wait staff is personable and attentive, but what a pleasant surprise to see how thorough and professional the bus staff is. When a party leaves, a team of bus staff descend on the table and thoroughly (and aggressively) clean each table - down to cleaning the carpets under each table between each set of guests. We'll be back.

When my other half suggested we go here for lunch I took one look at the place and laughed. But he said "my family took me here all the time when I was a kid" so I agreed to try it. We were seated outside on the deck, which had nice views of the waterfront. The service was fast and friendly. A simple menu but nice that they had offerings for the non seafood lover. I had the lobster roll which was AMAZING, not too much mayo and tons of lobster chunks. My boyfriend had the steak and he enjoyed it. Only complaint is there is no craft beer :( Really liked the hand salt scrub in the ladies bathroom, nice touch Lobster Boat.

Disappointed in this place. We are on a tour of Cape Cod and our trusted driver dropped us off here for lunch. I had the fish & chips. Not at all what I expected. This fish was flat, soggy and cold. I thought being in Cape Cod the fish would be good. Not here. My husband had their award winning chowder and said it was really good. Although they had to bring him out 3 bowls before it was hot enough to eat. Not sure why the food is so cold here? Needless to say, I'm from California and we have excellent seafood out there so I'm kind of a tough critic. Pass on the fish and chips but come for the chowder. Service was slow but they were nice.

Coffee came cold. Second cup was hot. My fiancé needed sugar I had to get it at another table. His $24.95 Delmonico steak ordered med. rare was dry and saying med. well is being kind to the cook. Baked potatoe dry and re-microwaved. My shrimp platter was obviously frozen and just reheated. My fries were cold. We had to get up and ask for ketchup. Waitress was friendly but not attentive at all. We were so disappointed. We have come here 3 years in a row. Was always good. We will never ever go to Lobster Boat again.

Delightful lunch. Indeed probably THE BEST N.E. clam chowdah this diner has ever had, and I've been at it a while (40+ years). Lobster roll decent, fish & chips good...lovely to sit outside & enjoy the breezes on the river. Food came promptly, fries hot & nicely done. Decor was just the right amount of nautical kitsch.

Lobster boat is an adequate location. Plenty of tables, good service, although our server seemed not into his job, but did ok. The best part of our meal was their 2007 award winning clam chowder. Also had the lobster feast, that included four 1 lb. lobsters with steamer, mussels and corn. The lobster was steamed and kinda tasteless, the mussels with tomato sauce and peppers were not good, steamers were ok. The decor was clean but dated. I expected or hoped for more based on the location.

This is a cool place. We sat at the bar and Bill was our bartender. He was a cool laid back older guy who chatted with us throughout our stay. We had the twin lobster meal for $24.99 and a cup of the chowder: you get 2 lobsters, corn on the cob and fries. The lobster was decent, nothing special but no complaints, the corn on the cob was huge and delicious, the fries were good. THE CHOWDER IS AWESOME!!! Probably the best I've ever had. Bill made us a couple of tasty Bloody Mary's which went with the meal perfectly. I read some bad reviews for this place but we had a great visit, Bill was a big part of that. This place is huge and during season when it's packed it's not hard to imagine less than stellar service, we were one of maybe 10 customers and were totally happy and taken care of. I would definitely return.

First day on the Cape... Saw the interesting sign and boat out front.... My wife had the Clam Chowder... a little salty, but full of clams!!... I had the Clam Strip meal...lightly breaded nice flavor!...good service

I was a little weirded out by this place to begin with. We sat on the back deck overlooking the river. We watched people fish from the bridge, and saw a pelican attempting to pick up a dead fish that was floating in the water. It was low tide, so it did smell a little but that's what you get at the shore. I liked the fact that there were $4 Miller Lite drafts, but we weren't able to get service quick enough to enjoy more than 2 rounds each. I ordered the two local caught lobsters, which were decent. I don't eat lobster often, so when I do I'm expecting something really amazing but this just wasn't doing it. They brought me out rice instead of French fries as my side and once I got the fries I had to remind the waiter twice to bring ketchup. Bad service combined with mediocre food means I won't be back!!!

So, I came here this past Thursday (6/21) around 6:30 with five other people. We were seated fast, outside of the main dining room in an enclosed porch. It was hot and there was absolutely no air flow which kind of sucked. The fans were positioned in kind of a weird way. The service was okay. I think our table suffered a little bit because of a woman seated right next to us who kept complaining about every little thing. The manager even came over a few times to talk to that table. Our waiter was nice, not the most attentive but I've definitely had worse. We started the night with pina coladas (okay) and clam chowder. The clam chowder is the only reason I would ever come back here. It was phenomenal. I ordered the baked seafood sampler, it came with shrimp, scallops and native fish topped with "parmesan ritz crumbs and a lemon white wine butter sauce". It was absolutely disgusting. I ate the shrimp because it wasn't topped with anything (still way overcooked though) and my side of french fries. I attempted to eat the scallops and fish but the topping was so gross I just couldn't do it. Huge disappointment for a meal that's a hair under $20.

Got the twin lobster special for $21.99. It was delicious, although I asked for rice pilaf and got French fries. The clams casino were great, the bacon added quiet the flavor. My partner in crime got the fried shrimp platter and was pleased with the lightly breaded, slide off the shrimp taste. I don't know what day some yelpers went to the lobster boat but the service was exquisite! Tamara was great!!

I wanted a place where we could have drinks and apps looking at the water as we had a late night reservation and we happened upon the Lobster Boat. We were able to snag a table outside, in the complete shade, looking right at the water (2 stars just for that). I had a glass of white wine sangria and hubby and the shrimp bloody Mary. Just the standard Bloody Mary with a cocktail shrimp. I had a cup of lobster bisque and he had a cup of their chowder. Both came out hot and were really good. We also split the stuffed Quahogs (came with two) and they were really good as well. Our waitress may have been stretched a bit thin, but overall was pleasant and attentive (as best as she could be). We had a great experience and would come again for drinks/apps!

I have been going to Cape Cod for 30 years and have never eaten here. The decor outside screams tourist trap. I found out it serves 350 at capacity and they regularly take the tour buses in to meet that capacity. The inside is tacky and looks tired. We had a large party of 8 and a server named Tina Marie who seemed more interesting in complaining to her co-workers than providing good service. Half the table went for the twin lobster special. When the lobsters were served we didn't receive any shell crackers, bibs, or bowls. We waited about 5 minutes and told Tina Marie. She said she would get it but another 10 minutes goes by and one of our party has to stalk her down and she says she forgot. Also, one of the orders was slightly wrong which she never fixed. The lobsters were cooked well. One of my daughters got the fish and chips kids meal and it was a 1 star at best. Overall, I would not recommend this place. The only reason we ended up there was Captain Parkers had a 1 hour wait- should have waited!

This is a regular stop whenever we come to the Cape. The decor is nothing fancy, as as another review wrote "screams tourist trap." However, the seafood is decent and the twin lobster special makes it worthwhile. The special consists of two 1lb culled lobsters (each having only one claw). It was actually cheaper than buying a regular 1 1/4lb lobster ($24.99 v. $28.99) so that alone makes it worth it. Also, I'm a big fan of tail meat and to me this is getting two for the price of one. The chowder is also pretty good and I personally really like the lobster bisque. It's rather creamy but does have chunks of lobster in it. Overall if you're looking for a decent place to get lobster at a reasonable price, this is the place to go.

Nothing special here. Over priced lobster and the staff was meh. I had the twin lobster lunch deal. Which was the same dinner deal. My friend hand the lobster roll lunch deal which was the same dinner deal....get it? There was no deal. The staff was not very helpful. I won't be back anytime soon.

This is an average seafood restaurant on the cape. If you sit by the window, you can enjoy a decent view of the water. The service was great from start to finish. Everyone was very pleasant without being in our faces while we ate. The boyfriend and I had a lobster roll each. The rolls were comparable to some of the other places on the Cape but had a very buttery flavor (maybe a bit too much butter). We also shared a lobster bisque and a clam chowder. The chowder was great and the lobster bisque wasn't too bad either. Overall, I would give this about a 3.5.

  • Ted B.

This place has improved dramatically in my opinion. Yes, it is touristy, being shaped like a Lobster Boat in front, but you do get a good view of the water. Their chowder is very good. I would even rate it better than Captain Parker's, which is nearby and supposedly has the best around. They twin lobster deal is fantastic. You get two lobsters, an ear of corn and a baked potato and hot bread for 24.99. Simply can't beat it. Service is friendly and pretty quick. Yes, it does kind of have that touristy big place feel to it, but you can have a good seafood meal with a scenic view for good prices in a touristy town.

  • Marion F.

My friends and I totally agree with Karley J! We could not decide where to eat tonight after reading all of the yelps reviews!! The chowder was ok, to thick and to salty for my taste!!! The food was terrible, if you are thinking of going here, DON'T!!!!!! The server was friendly, but forgot a couple of things, and really did not come back to the table even to see if we needed extra napkins!! We ordered the Lazy Mans Lobster and the Mac & Cheese with lobster, they both were terrible, dry, chewy, and did not taste like lobster!!! You would think our server would have noticed we didn't finish our meals and as why! Kids had pizza, that was ok, also a buffalo chicken salad was ok!! This was truly a tourist trap, over priced, and awful food!! Don't waste your money here!!

Overpriced - and during peak season over run with tourist families (Yes, including ours) with loud kids and parents trying to steal a moment away with a cocktail. The lobster was watery and overcooked (I got the twin culls for $19.95) served with tasteless corn on the cob and slaw. Big fat whoop. We've been here twice now (once in 2007 and once in 2009) and I feel no need to return. Oh - and their $16.00 lobster roll is no better that Captain Frostie's $13.00 lobster roll. Not goin' back. (Even though our kid loves that whole "boat shaped restaurant thing.)

The Lobster Boat is a spacious seafood resaturant that looks like (you guessed it) a boat on the inside. This place is perfect for large groups and families, as they have ample seating and a good amount of large tables. The food here is good, but somewhat overpriced for what you get. They are extremely rigid about making substitutions with your meal. Want a salad instead of fries? That's fine but it's going to cost you about $5. Our particular waitress that night was nice but slightly unattentive. When we asked her some fairly simple questions about the menu she didn't seem to know the answers. Me: "What sides come with this meal?" Waitress: "Either rice or french fries." Me: "No other choices?" Waitress: "That's right" Me: "Can you I vegetables?" Waitress: "Yes." Talking to her was like an annoying treasure hunt for simple answers. The food itself was good but the portions weren't huge. I'd go back simply for the location and the fact that it's good for large parties. But, it would not be my first (or fifth) choice.

This is like a waterfront Red Lobster. You're better off grabbing a bag of Mrs. Paul's fish sticks and some ore ida fries from the frozen food section of your local grocery store. They say they have the best clam chowder on the Cape, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was actually Campbell's. Yuck. Save yourself a wasted trip.

  • Helen W.

We were forced to go here because we were on the Brushill Grayline Cape Cod tour - the bus dumps you here to eat lunch when we could have eaten on our own in town. The food is terrible - overpriced and tasteless. Did I mention the bad and impersonal service? It's like they know they have you because you are on a tour (but you have to pay for your food) and they automatically add 18% (that's why the waiters don't even try). it was really hot in the restaurant too.

It's ok. Nothing special, but nothing bad. The bread was perhaps the greatest of all time - perfectly buttery and soft. In my two location chowder showdown (vs. The Skipper Restaurant), they came out the winner. As for the entrees, we went with a basic, fried seafood. I got the Captain's Platter and my girlfriend got the scallops. The scallops were somewhat hit-or-miss, with some tasting delicious and some being watery and rubbery. The breading also fell off whenever they were picked up. The cod held it's breading better than any fried cod I'd ever had. the fries were good and I was told that the onion rings were excellent. They were a bit stingy with the tartar sauce and it also was pretty sub-par. So, average fried seafood. That might be okay away from the coast, but on the Cape, it might not be enough. If you have a craving for bread though...

It seems every time I go to the Cape I end up here for a meal. I've never had a bad experience. Most recently, I really enjoyed eating on the sunny waterfront patio and enjoying a fisherman's platter. The platter, priced at $22.95 was a bit more then most places but was very generous. I'm glad we didn't order a side of clam bellies cause the platter had many. They were mostly on the smaller side but not bad. The scallops, shrimp and haddock are incredibly fresh. You could split this and call it dinner. Coleslaw was a bit creamy for my taste. The tarter sauce has a nice home made flavor. Our server was awesome. People consider this place touristy, which it is and most places on the street will be labeled that way. It's one of the only places along the strip to get waterfront dining so I always choose it. It does get packed so try going on an off time to get a seat on the patio. On a Sunday at noon we were among the first there and got the best table.

This is typical seafood in a typical setting. I would even say it's a little expensive for what you get. The foods not bad and the service is ok. I thought it was a little weird that they didn't have hush puppies though.

Well, being one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a long time, the only reason this gets two stars is the generally positive experiences of the others at our table of 9. First off, the atmosphere of this place is on par with Chuck E Cheese. There were kids running around everywhere, some were even throwing frisbees. The decor was so tacky it screamed dumpy family restaurant, but the prices of the meals were that of a classier establishment. I ordered the mango shrimp salad along with a friend at our table. Big mistake. After nearly 45 minutes and at least 15 minutes of watching the others at our table eat they final brought us our salads. The mango was out of a can, the shrimp were bland and the salad left you feeling bored and tired. The waitress was very kind and gave her sincere apologies for our late meals and in return offered us a desert on the house. It gets worse. When the consolation deserts came we found that mine was moldy. Quite moldy. At this point, it wasn't really a surprise. I'm not one to usually complain so we could've made a bigger scene than we did. After this I was offered a $6.00 gift certificate. I won't be returning and I strongly recommend others to stay away.

Went to the Lobster Boat last week and I'm sure we won't return. We've driven by this place so many times and never tried it until last summer. Last year we sat outside by the water and it was pretty decent - the food was good, waiter was great and the view was nice. This year we sat inside and couldn't stand it. The decor is so tacky it makes you ill. It's a typical Cape family restaurant - but the kids that night were out of control. I have 2 older kids and they were well behaved in restaurants when they were young (most of the time) - but we must have picked a bad kid night. Overall, the food was mediocre at best -- fisherman's platter, baked sole and lobster casserole. The waitress was nice and fairly attentive. My son couldn't go to dinner with us that night - I think he was glad that he missed this place. Bye Lobster Boat we won't be back.

Did not have to wait at 7 pm on a Friday night! That was worth 4 stars! Clam chowder was pasty, too many potatoes not enough clams. Bit too much bread in the stuffed clams, but tasty. Mussels Bianco was great, twin lobsters came with two claws each, not the traditional cull, one claw. Bread is amazing and it kept coming!

    (4)
  • A. K.

Saw the $19.95 twin lobster special, so I had to stop in. The twin culls were actually a good size and I had a great meal at a good price. But their Lobster Bisque is what I'm going to return here for. I'm not usually a fan of bisques in general, but I needed a break from the chowder which I had been having every day of my Cape Cod trip. The bisque was perfect! Not too tomato-y, just the way I love it. If you can get dockside seating, there is a nice view of the marina. But the biggest drawback of this place would be the screaming-whining-crying kids. I love families and all, but this family joint was a bit too loud for me.

My family makes it a point to visit the Lobster Boat at least 3 times each summer. It has a wonderful atmosphere and the food is super fresh. It's so nice to dine on the water. Service was excellent considering it is such a busy location. The clam chowder is UNBELIEVABLE! It really makes it difficult to order chowder anywhere else because it is so good.

Food was tasty, service was friendly and fast. No wait!

  • Ann L.

Like what some reviewers said it is a huge restaurant that can seat large groups. Athough majority of the waitstaff are teenagers and college kids, service is not bad. However their food is terrible. My husband's calamari platter was soggy and bland. My crabcakes had overpowering herbs and seasonings; couldn't taste the crabmeat. Even my 3-year-old's pizza tasted like it came from one of those cheap individual frozen boxed pizzas that you get from the freezer aisle.

  • Steve D.

Oh god. Soooooo Bad. Went to the "boat" in the height oh the season. The place easily seats 300. Let's say there were 25. Food, brutal. Seafood salad from a can, or at least the "meat" was in a strangely circular shape. And for the non seafood lovers you can have a hockey puck, I mean burger, on a stake bun. But at least you have the view. The boats saving grace, and descent service.

  • French C.

Been there a few times with friends, the $20 twin lobster special is very popular with them. The non-seafood portion of the menu is disapointing and / or overcooked by experience. The tacky marina decor inside and out, makes this place almost a landmark. On busy hours the staff is very responsive once your order is in.

I had a great lobster dinner. Amazing service, very sweet staff. Nice view and comfortable restaurant. My husband loved his meal also, fisherman's platter type of special. Dessert was carrot cake and that was great too.

  • Sophia F.

Reading the reviews, we decided to give it a try. Service was very good and courteous. The chowder and lobster bisque were nice and thick, but way too salty. If not for that, would've given it 5 stars because the seafood was fantastic. It was quite fresh. Twin lobsters were $19.95 and much fresher than back in NY. The seafood platter was lightly fried and a hefty portion, all of which was succulent and fresh. The baked seafood dish was flavorful with a white wine lemon butter and ritz cracker topping. With Asian parents that are hard to please, they give it a two thumbs up.

Our first time there for dinner last night. No wait, seated right away, outside, nice breeze. Service gets 4 stars. Waiter very good, polite. Good place for families, very casual. I had the twin lobsters & chowder, lobsters excellent, chowder also VG. Another in our party had the Delmonico, nice steak, too large for him to finish. My wife had the 1.5 lb lobster, and it was just ok, she believed it to be either over cooked, or not as fresh as my twins. That & the calamari appetizer are the only reasons for not going 4stars. Calamari was a small portion for the price charged, but tasted ok. I do recommend this place for dinner, probably good to arrive before 6pm, less chance of a wait. There were quite a few waiting when we departed...

Came here on a Monday night, on fourth of July week. Told us it would be a twenty minute wait but got seated after five minutes. They brought over fresh hot bread right away. Ordered the Lobster special that comes with 4 1 1/4 lb lobsters, 4 ears of corn, 4 starch sides and steamers. I would NOT recommend this for 4 adults. The lobsters were nowhere near The weight they were supposed to be and there was a total,of 10 steamers. ordered a side of mixed veggies for our baby and they were frozen veggies reheated. Not my personal preference to feed my child. Our waitress was very attentive and when our child had a meltdown she brought him some oyster crackers and he loved it :) at the end of the meal all kids get a free frisbee. Our baby has not put that frisbee down our whole vacation. Overall it was not a bad experience

  • Tricia B.

Sat outside and that was nice... Chowder was fantastic, overpriced @ $5 a cup though. Service was ok. Our 2 children split the $19.95 for two lobsters. Culls(one claw) were SMALL, corn on the cob was lousy and they left still hungry. My King and I shared some combo platter that included a tiny lobster, fried scallops, shrimp, whole clams and fish that were pretty tasty. We asked to substitute whole clams for strips, waitress forgot We could have got the same meal at Kream N Kone for less $$. Won't go back.

After passing by this location several times, we decided to try it out. I did read a few negative reviews by some self important, entitled people, but it didn't sway me into not coming here. Their lobster bisque was one of the best I've had, I only ordered a cup of it, but it was super filling. The steamed lobster was fresh and the meat was very flavorful, it didn't even need the butter. Overall, its a nice place, a bit touristy, but you get a nice view of the water and a lot of food for your money.
